Job summary

Bodycote is hiring a Heat Treater for our Rancho Dominguez facility. The role requires performing heat treating operations under supervision, with opportunities to grow from Level C to Level A based on experience.

You will support loading/unloading furnaces, monitoring equipment, and ensuring procedures are followed on shop travelers and customer paperwork. Candidates should have 2–3 years in manufacturing/aerospace environments, a forklift certification, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years experience in Manufacturing/Aerospace environment.
  • Must satisfy ITAR compliance (US Citizens or PR as applicable).
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Position Summary

Based in Rancho Dominguez the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager and/or Supervisor to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Skills

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Heat Treating Technician. Depending on your skills and experience, this role may be filled at one of the following levels:

Level C: Entry Level (0 to 24 months of heat treating experience)

You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.

  • Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
Level B: Mid-Level (2 to 3 years of experience in heat treating)

You should have a proven track record in heat treating, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.

  • Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
Level A: Senior-Level (3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating)

You will lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and make strategic contributions to the department.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
  • Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have 2-3 years experience in Manufacturing/Aerospace environment.
  • Must have working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Must have forklift operation certification.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00–$20.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non‑exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.

This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential, etc., if applicable.
