Job summary

Caterpillar is offering a Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program in Peoria, IL. This paid training position will later transition to 2nd or 3rd shift, with pay starting at $23.22 per hour plus a night shift premium.

Participants gain hands-on experience in carburizing, cycle annealing, and die quenching, while developing skills in heat-treat processes, safety, and manufacturing workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust heat-treat equipment for carburizing, cycle annealing, and die quenching of gears.
• Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures and physical demands.
• Frequent walking, bending, reaching; standing for long shifts.
• Support shift operations and learn the Caterpillar heat-treat workflow.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards while maintaining productivity.
