Job summary

NTA Precision Axle is hiring a Heat Treat Operator in Illinois to run CNC lathe and/or milling equipment, load and inspect parts, and manage offsets and tooling. The role requires reading drawings, using gauges, and maintaining quality through a defined induction heat treat process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to add/subtract decimals accurately.
• Experience in manufacturing with automated or robotic equipment.
• Able to read and interpret piece part drawings and make quality/offset decisions.
• Experience machining and using measuring tools such as drop indicators, dial bore gauges, plug gauges.
• Fast-paced environment handling multiple production lines; overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathe and/or milling machine; load/unload production lines.
• Verify quality with preset gauges and measuring tools.
• Perform visual inspections; adjust offsets and tooling as needed.
• Record production results on forms; perform daily 5S cleaning and maintenance.
• Read job instructions and perform basic math calculations.
• Comply with ISO 16949 & 14001 and safety regulations.
• Support other duties as needed.

Job description

Summary

Heat Treat Operator is responsible for operating CNC lathe and/or milling machine. Loads and inspects parts, changes offsets and tooling. Heat Treat Operator position ensures parts are heat treated through an induction heat treat process. Work is performed in a manufacturing setting standing and walking on concrete floors throughout an 8 to 12 hour shift with frequent handling of metal parts weighing 1 to 5 pounds, visual inspection, occasional bending or reaching, use of hand tools, use of up to 50 lbs. of force to move heavy loads on wheels.

Starting Wage: $19.00

We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour and 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Essential Job Functions

• Machine Operations - Check specs, load/unload production lines.
• Utilize measurement tools such as pre-set gauges to verify quality of production.
• Perform visual inspection of parts.
• Make necessary offsets.
• Change/adjust production tooling.
• Complete forms recording production results.
• Daily preventative maintenance, remove and dispose of chips/shavings, replenish fluids/lubricants,
• Comply with ISO 16949 & 14001 requirements, safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas -perform 5S cleaning responsibilities.
• Reads job instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; demonstrated ability to add and subtract decimals with high degree of accuracy.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to automated or robotic equipment
• Must be able to read and interpret piece part drawings and make decisions regarding part quality and offset changes.
• Must have experience in machining and using measuring tools such as drop indicators, dial bore gauges, plug gauges, fixture related pin gauges.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment running multiple production lines, prioritizing tasks to maximize efficiency.
• Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance, work overtime and weekends as needed.
