CLASSIFICATION: Hourly Non-Exempt (Paid Overtime)

GENERAL:

Responsible for conducting inspections and reporting results in support of production operations.

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Perform most hardness, inspections, including flat, round, and irregularly shaped parts with close supervision.
• Calibrate and operate all hardness testing equipment.
• Identify and report conditions that do not meet customer specifications.
• Conduct hardness inspections using all given scales.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other gages as required.
• Maintain clean work areas and orderly storage of fixtures, gages and special inspection equipment.
• Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on a regular basis while protecting lifted items from damage.
• Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
• Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment periodically, even at times when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from furnaces.
• Must be able to walk within and between areas constantly and climb stairs occasionally.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to retain instructions sufficient to perform repeat tasks successfully and with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to comprehend and comply with requirements of the Quality Systems Manual as instructed.
