Qualifications

  • Competency in applying adjudicatory hearings processes and preparing final decisions or complex reports.
  • Experience in reviewing case files, evidence, and testimony to determine outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Determines time, date, and place of hearing and schedules a hearing forum.
  • Assesses testimony and documents to determine final decision on the claim.
  • Explains procedures, duties of the hearing officer, and claimant rights to participants.
  • Discusses and questions all parties to identify issues and clarify testimony.
  • Determines legality and direction of testimony and controls the hearing process.
  • Writes a formal report defining issues and listing facts and documents.
  • Advises program managers when policies are misapplied to correct problems.
