Job summary

Xtrava Group in Tucson, Arizona, seeks a Heap Leach Operations Superintendent to lead a large copper leaching operation. You will own the leaching function, manage people and processes, and drive safe, efficient production in a growing site.

This role requires 7–10+ years heap-leach experience, 5–7+ years supervisory leadership, and a degree in Metallurgy or Mining, with hands-on field and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years' heap-leach experience.
• 5–7+ years' frontline supervisory or operational leadership experience.
• Direct experience with stacking, irrigation, solution management and leach-pad operations.
• Experience leading multi-crew operational teams.
• Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong safety leadership within a regulated mining environment.
• Comfortable operating both in the field and across the technical/process aspects of the operation.
• Experience with bioleaching, bacterial leaching, new technology implementation, operational ramp-ups or developing heap-leach operations would be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead approximately 30–35 personnel across four operating crews.
• Full operational responsibility for stacking, irrigation, solution distribution, leach pads and associated processing activities.
• Lead safety, production, training, operating procedures and workforce development.
• Coordinate closely with processing, metallurgy, maintenance, wellfield and mining teams.
• Oversee leach‑pad construction, operation, inspection and maintenance.
• Manage solution application, flow, irrigation and integration with plant requirements.
• Develop the capability and structure of the leaching team as the operation grows.
• Monday–Friday, site‑based leadership role.

The Opportunity

An opportunity for an experienced heap-leach professional to take operational leadership of a significant copper leaching operation in Arizona.

The role combines hands‑on responsibility for an established heap‑leach function with exposure to new processing technology as the operation continues to develop and grow.

You will join an experienced site leadership team, taking ownership of the people, processes and day‑to‑day performance of the leaching function while helping build the capability required for the operation's next phase.
