Job summary

The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver will deliver impactful youth programs across 4-5 clubs and support outdoor education at Gates Camp during the summer. Reporting to the Healthy Lifestyles Manager, you will plan, coordinate, and facilitate high-yield programs for members aged 5-18.

Responsibilities include nutrition education, physical activity, grant budgeting, data tracking, and ensuring funding compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• At least one year of youth development experience, preferably in health or outdoor education, with a track record of planning and implementing youth lesson plans.

Job Summary

The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator plays a key role in delivering impactful youth programs across 4-5 assigned Boys & Girls Clubs and supporting outdoor education at Gates Camp during the summer. Reporting to the Healthy Lifestyles Manager, this position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating high-yield and targeted programs for Club members ages 5-18.

The Coordinator leads Healthy Lifestyles programming, including nutrition education, physical activity, outdoor education and field trips, substance use prevention, and healthy relationships. This role involves a mix of in-Club programming, field trips, and administrative work to ensure high-quality experiences for Club members. The Coordinator is also responsible for managing multiple grant budgets to ensure funding is effectively allocated and program goals are met. This position will begin by focusing on the needs of assigned Clubs, but at times may support other clubs or may adjust their focus depending on Club needs. Because club models vary, individual schedules will also vary. Individual hours will be set by supervisors in increments of 6 hours between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm. Exceptions will be rare and must be approved in writing.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma
• A t least one years of youth development experience, preferably in health or outdoor education, with a track record of planning and implementing youth lesson plans. Volunteer service may substitute year-for-year.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, nutrition, health, or a related field. Equivalent youth-serving experience may substitute year-for-year.
• Experience working with youth.
• Teaching certificate or background in education
• Proficient in managing multiple programs, attendance requirements, and reporting.
• Strong passion for connecting members and families to the highest quality health programming and services driven by evidence-based practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong facilitation and training skills for a variety of audiences.
• Experience in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail, while adapting to frequent changes or unexpected events.
• Safety and compliance. Experience as an onsite compliance expert to ensure all employees, volunteers, and other individuals follow safety protocols, policies, and organization procedure.
• Incident de-escalation. as a point of escalation, feedback, and approval for incidents and submitted incident reports.
• Budgets. You have assisted in budget development; monitor and report variances in expenditures and meet or exceed all grant requirements and deadlines for grants.
• Recruiting. You have created creative and effective recruitment strategies, planning and implementation to bring in new youth to programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position does not directly supervise any employees.

Conditions of Employment

• Candidates must be able to pass acriminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
• A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a pre-requisite.
• Maintain active CPR & First Aid certification.
• The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator will primarily work outdoors during the summer months facilitating field trips.
• During other times of the year, the Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator will primarily work indoors.
• Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required.
• The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing up to 25lbs.
• The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data.
• Other duties as assigned.

In-Office and Remote Work

This position will primarily work at Cope Boys & Girls Club during administrative tasks and office hours but will implement programming at their four-five assigned Clubs throughout the week. The role will begin by focusing on the needs at the assigned Clubs but may shift focus or support other Clubs based on program requirements. During the summer months, the position will split time between Gates Camp and the Clubs in Denver.

Hours are 12 AM – 7 PM during the school year and 8 AM – 5 PM during the summer, but may be adjusted based on programming requirements

Summary

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $21.04 - $25.46/hr. However, typical starting pay is $21.50/hr.
Hours: 32 Hours/week; M-F (occasional Saturday)
