Roles include coaching sports, promoting creativity, and leading service-learning activities in a supportive, youth-centered environment.

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Youth Development Specialist and the Youth Enrichment Specialist plans, supervises, and implements a variety of high-yield activities and targeted programs within Athletics, Cultural Arts, Education, STEM or Teen fields .

Athletics programming champions healthy habits through fitness or sport activities. A Youth Development Specialist tasked with Athletics, or the Youth Enrichment Specialist – Athletics role, is also responsible for coaching intramural and team sports activities including baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball for their club members.

Cultural Arts programming fosters creativity , self-expression, and cultural appreciation through a variety of artistic mediums. A Youth Development Specialist tasked with Cultural Arts, or the Youth Enrichment Specialist – Cultural Arts role, can also promote artistic expression through photography, ceramics, theater, creative writing and even knitting.

Education programming features academics, character, leadership, and service-learning focus . A Youth Development Specialist tasked with Education, or the Youth Enrichment Specialist – Education role , can coordinate financial literacy, homework power hour, career prep, college prep, leadership development, math, geography, spelling, reading and writing.

STEM programming offers opportunities to engage within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics environments . A Youth Development Specialist tasked with STEM, or the Youth Enrichment Specialist – STEM role, may also develop programs that focus on environmental sciences, nature walks, coding, 3D printing, robotics, Legos, music creation and editing, and even playing video games.

Teen programming focuses on engaging teen Club members (ages 13-18) with academic, character & leadership, and career exploration experience. A Youth Development Specialist tasked with Teen programming, or the Youth Enrichment Specialist – Teen role, will be responsible for executing Youth of the Year, Keystone Club, Workforce Development, Financial Literacy and Teen Nights. They also help teen Club members make appropriate choices about their education, career, social, physical, and emotional needs as well as overseeing the Peer Leaders and Work-based Learners within their Clubs.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Youth Engagement

  • Implement engaging, high-quality program offerings that align with positive youth development and trauma-informed practices.
  • Utilize the Impact Resource Library to identify lessons plans that can be developed into engaging programming.
  • Submit programming supply needs to the Program Manager in a timely manner to ensure that all necessary supplies are obtained prior to programming taking place.
Youth Development & Member Engagement
  • Support the Club Director’s vision of establish ing a youth-centered, safe, inclusive and engaging Club Culture that promote s positive Club member behaviors while also supporting a Club Culture that is welcoming of Club families and other external BGCMD stakeholders .
  • Implement constructive youth development and trauma-informed practices throughout the Club to foster positive emotional, social, and enrichment experience for Club members.
  • Build strong relationships with Club members, providing mentorship and guidance.
Team Leadership & Professional Development
  • Attend regular staff meetings and co llaborate with teammates to support Club culture and member engagement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by substituting at other Clubs or participating in organization-wide events across the Denver Metro area.
  • Participate in BGCMD January, May, and August training weeks and engage in any district/school-led professional development opportunities if applicable.
Community & Family Engagement
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment by setting up and cleaning programming spaces and BGCMD vehicles.
  • Support and enforce behavior expectations for members to ensure a respectful and structured setting.
  • Assist with Club member recruitment and outreach efforts to engage youth and families.
  • Uphold and enforce Club policies and procedures related to member safety and visitor access.
  • Support Club events by preparing materials and coordinating logistics .
  • Assist with light cleaning and organizing of front desk and shared spaces.
  • Notify Club L eadership of any safety or security concerns.
  • Collaborate with Club staff to implement BGCMD’s Standard Response Protocols when necessary.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Transport Club members to field trips, athletics activities and other special events in accordance with BGCMD safety standards.
  • Serve as a Club Substitute at a different Club location if that Club’s engagement necessitates additional staff.
  • Youth Enrichment Specialist may be tasked with supporting school-day responsibilities such as recess duty or lunch duty depending on Club location.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum age required by BGCMD policy and applicable youth-supervision requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with different age groups, teams, Club environments, and program areas.
  • Ability to independently follow written schedules, lesson plans, safety procedures, and onsite direction.
  • CPR, First Aid, medication administration, or other certifications required within BGCMD’s established timeframe .
  • Valid driver’s license and qualification to be insured under the company’s policy (at least 21 years of age and valid driver’s license for at least three years with no major violations)
Preferred Qualifications
  • You are a Spanish speaker.
  • You have previous experience working with youth .
  • Experience coaching various sports
Conditions of Employment
  • The position requires passing criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
  • The position must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy.
  • The position will primarily work indoors. Accordingly , the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required .
  • Some job duties require the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25 lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
  • Strong English proficiency is required for this position to ensure effective communication with staff, club members, and families, as well as to follow safety and procedural guidelines accurately.
In-Office and Remote Work

This position works primarily at an assigned club location but may occasionally work from other BGCMD facilities as necessary.
