Job summary

Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners seeks a Healthy Homes Lead Technician to lead field weatherization crews across Spokane County. You will meet homeowners, explain project expectations, and ensure work meets safety and program standards while guiding teams in the field.

The role requires high school or equivalent and 4 years in weatherization or minor home repair, plus up-to-date safety training and a valid driver's license. Competitive benefits provided.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

• Lead and support weatherization crews in the field
• Meet with homeowners and explain project expectations
• Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to program standards
• Provide technical guidance, oversee quality control, and support complex field projects
• Promote safe work practices, including lead-safe procedures and health and safety compliance

Location: Primarily field-based throughout Spokane County.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience – Required: High School or equivalent; 4 years of experience in all phases of minor home repair and/or weatherization work including 2 years of experience installing doors and windows.

Education and Experience – Preferred: High School or equivalent; 6 years of experience in all phases of minor home repair and/or weatherization work and additional general carpentry experience, including 3 years of installing doors and windows.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Beginner-level computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook and Word, or willingness to take related training classes to gain the skills
• Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information
• Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, weatherization, and structural repair techniques, tools, materials, and safety requirements
• Knowledge of or ability to learn weatherization skills for single- and multi-family homes, as well as mobile homes
• Knowledge of or ability to learn weatherization theory, installation techniques, and specifications
• Ability to safely use construction and insulation tools, materials, and equipment
• Ability to install doors and windows
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on effectively working in a team environment and with a diverse population
• Ability to complete paperwork in a legible manner

Training and Certifications:

• Ability to be certified for respirator use and to participate in annual lead exposure testing
• Safety training (ongoing)
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
• Completes classes in Lead Safe Weatherization and asbestos, containment and cleanup

Work Environment/Physical Activities:

This position requires working in seasonal heat and cold. Must be able to safely perform physical aspects of the job including lifting up to 85 pounds, pulling, transporting, handling equipment and materials, crawling, and using step ladders. Frequently works in confined spaces, such as beneath floors and in attics and crawl spaces. May require working on roof tops and other potentially hazardous areas. May be exposed to dusty, wet, muddy, poorly ventilated and occasionally unsanitary environments. May be exposed to fumes and substances including paint, solvents, and other materials.
