Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Spanish Translator/Interpreter at Fairview Riverside University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. This full-time role offers a standard 80 hours biweekly schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weekends as needed.

The successful candidate will provide in-person, video, and telephone interpreting and written translations in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Required qualifications include healthcare interpreting training and experience, translation

Qualifications

• Certificate in healthcare interpreting or minimum 40 hours of formal training.
• 2 years of spoken language interpreting in healthcare or human services.
• 1 year handling multiple service types (interpreting and translation).
• 2 years of written translation of healthcare-related content.
• Active on Spoken Language Interpreter roster with Minnesota Department of Health (upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, impartial spoken language interpretation in healthcare settings (including video and telephone).
• Select consecutive or simultaneous interpreting modes as needed by context.
• Facilitate direct communication between patients, families, and staff while maintaining boundaries.
• Translate written healthcare content between English and target language(s).
• Document interpreting encounters and translations in designated systems (e.g., Epic).
• Support language access and participate in quality improvement workflows as requested.
