Job summary

Zelis, based in the U.S. with multiple locations, seeks a Software Cost Engineer to analyze, implement, validate, and optimize healthcare cost-processing solutions within the Cost Engine.

You will design and maintain enterprise software using C#, Rust, and SQL; build APIs and data integrations with JSON; support EDI processing for high‑volume exchanges.

Collaborate with product owners to translate requirements, contribute to architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master's optional.
• Proficiency with Python/Java/Rust and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience with EDI Transactions and healthcare pricing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise software using C#, Rust, and related technologies.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for high-volume processing.
• Design and implement APIs, data integrations, and services using JSON.
• Analyze, develop, and support EDI transaction processing and data exchanges.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to platform modernization.
• Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability through best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to engineers.
• Support production environments by diagnosing issues and improving stability.
• Create technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Work with healthcare experts to align solutions with industry standards.
