Qualifications

• Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Demonstrated previous experience in law enforcement, corrections, public safety, military police, or security experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills, especially in de‑escalating strong emotional situations.
• At least 21 years of age.
• IAHSS Advanced Security Officer Certification

Responsibilities

• Independent work: ensure safety and security of the healthcare facility and occupants.
• Provide training on Workplace Violence Prevention (WPVP) and de‑escalation techniques.
• Plan and participate in drills such as infant abduction and active shooter scenarios.
• Mentor and train new officers on security standards and Intermountain Health's mission.
• Oversee and document safety inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Conduct routine rounds and respond proactively to high-risk areas like ED and behavioral health units.
• Identify threats and take preemptive measures to mitigate risks.
• Apply de‑escalation techniques to calm individuals and resolve conflicts.
• Assist patients, visitors, and staff with directions and information.
• Investigate incidents and write detailed reports.
• Operate security technology systems and ensure equipment functionality.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols.
• Perform searches in a respectful, safe manner with compliance to legal requirements.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations.
