Job summary

Mercy Health in Springfield is seeking a Police Officer to safeguard patients, staff and visitors across facilities. You will patrol grounds, respond to incidents, enforce hospital policies, and coordinate with clinical teams during emergencies.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and licensure/certification within 6 months. Healthcare security experience is preferred, with training opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• 1–3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees with escorts and patrols.
• Respond to calls for routine and emergency safety support.
• Enforce hospital policies and regulations, including parking and visitation rules.
• Monitor activity via CCTV and coordinate with security/clinical teams.
• Intervene in confrontations and document incidents in logs/reports.
• Follow emergency procedures and participate in disaster plans.
