Job summary

Phelps Health in Rolla, MO is hiring a Public Safety Officer to provide secure, courteous protection for staff, patients and visitors. You will patrol grounds and buildings, respond to calls, document activities, and work with hospital leadership to de-escalate threats.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, graduation from Law Enforcement Academy, and BLS certification. Experience in law enforcement or detention is preferred; license and commission as a peace officer are required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Graduate from Law Enforcement Academy required
• BLS through the American Heart Association required (per certification)
• Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer or have recent commission status per MO POST requirements

Responsibilities

• Shows concern and respect for others by dealing with people in a compassionate, sensitive and responsive manner.
• Respects the confidentiality of patient information.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of HIPAA Regulations as they relate to performance of duties.
• Provides updates and follow-up to departments and staff who request services from Public Safety.
• Completes shift activities in the allotted time frame, including Daily Shift Logs and Incident Reports.
• Keeps timely and accurate records and documentation of routine activities, rounds and incidents.
• Communicates with Director of Public Safety and designee regarding safety and security issues, emergencies or potentially dangerous situations.
• Monitors and directs parking on hospital premises per policy and as directed.
