Job summary

Anderson Hospital is seeking a dedicated Security Guard to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol premises, control access to sensitive areas, accompany visitors after hours, and assist in transfers of high-risk patients with a focus on safety and compassion.

The role requires two years of security experience, healthcare setting exposure preferred, and completion of IDFPR training with Illinois licenses. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training: 20-hour Basic Security Training per IDFPR; Illinois PERC background check; Security License.
• Experience: 2 years security exp.; healthcare setting exp preferred.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, understanding of patient rights, safety and infection control.
• Certifications: BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds on foot or vehicle, identify safety hazards and report them.
• Control access to sensitive areas to ensure only authorized personnel enter.
• Check locks and maintain clear emergency routes for ambulances.
• Screen visitors and assist with after-hours escorts to reduce unauthorized access.
• Write detailed incident reports and logs for legal and hospital records.
• Assist in transfers of high-risk patients and support staff during challenging situations.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide safe, compassionate care.
• Lead evacuations and respond to thefts, violence, or medical emergencies.
