Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Security Officer to perform rounds, respond to calls, enforce rules, and help create a safe healthcare environment at Paoli Hospital.

Requires high school diploma, 0-3 years experience, Indiana driver's license, completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I/II within 1 year, NCIC/IDACS certification, clean background, and ability to pass drug screening and psych exam.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Requires current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Requires successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I or Tier II training within one (1) year after appointment as a police officer.
• Must be able to obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor offenses.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and psychological exam.
• Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
• Have never had law enforcement officer license denied by final order or revoked.
• Not currently on suspension or have a voluntary surrender of a law enforcement license currently in effect.

Responsibilities

• Conducts rounding and foot and vehicle patrols in and around properties that are owned, leased or occupied by IU Health.
• Responds to calls for service.
• Enforces and assists in the enforcement of IU Health rules, regulations, policies and state statutes.
• Provides direction and guidance to team members, guests and patients.
• Assists teams with de‑escalting tense, uncertain and emotional situations.
• Proactively works to prevent crime and safety incidents.
• Responds to and investigates criminal activity and vehicle crashes as needed.
• Maintains records and logs and completes written reports as required.
• Performs physical security screening as required.
• Creates a safe healthcare environment for team members, patients and guests.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the chain of command.
