Job summary

CommonSpirit Health at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center is seeking a Security Officer to protect staff, patients, and visitors, deter crime, and respond to emergencies with calm, professional conduct.

You will monitor electronic surveillance, coordinate with dispatch, log incidents, and uphold HIPAA and hospital codes while aligning with our mission and values.

Qualifications

• High School or GED.
• Six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement, or military service OR one (1) year of experience as a security officer.
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 days.
• Security Guard: CA.

Responsibilities

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigates security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. Ensures that incident reports are accurately completed and that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted promptly.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location.
• Keeping the organization’s mission, vision, and values at the forefront of all decision‑making and action.
• Demonstrates the professional and technical skills necessary for the role, exhibiting both depth and breadth of expertise. Builds trust and confidence through respectful and credible interactions that reflect positively on personal integrity and the organization’s mission.
