Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Elgin, IL seeks a Security Officer for full-time 3rd shift (approx. two 12-hour shifts 7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends off. Responsibilities include patrolling, incident response, de-escalation, and liaison with law enforcement on Advocate Health property.

Applicant must have a High School diploma or GED, 1+ year security/public-safety experience, and be able to obtain required certifications and firearms qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Typically 1+ year experience in security or public safety.
• Ability to pass background, drug screen and medical/psychological screening.
• Willingness to carry a department firearm and complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services with a customer-service approach.
• Perform interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and identify hazards.
• Respond to emergencies and workplace violence; de-escalate when possible.
• Assist with traffic control, parking, and crowd management.
• Investigate incidents and complete timely reports.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and first responders.
• Deliver security awareness education to staff and visitors.
• Maintain training standards for radio, CPR, restraints, and TASER equipment.
