Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL is hiring a Public Safety Officer II - Armed for 3rd shift (7pm–7:30am) with 40 hours per week. The role focuses on professional security services, patient safety, and emergency response within a hospital setting.

The position requires a high school diploma/GED, 1 year of security/public safety experience, and licensure credentials including FOID where applicable, plus ongoing training in weapons and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in security/public safety or customer service.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services with a customer-service approach and professional appearance.
• Perform interior and exterior patrols to identify hazards, enforce rules, and protect patients and staff.
• Respond to emergencies, de-escalate threats, and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
• Complete timely incident reports and support traffic and crowd control as required.
• Maintain training and equipment and assist with information and directions as needed.
