Job summary

St. Mary’s Healthcare on Main campus seeks a Full-Time Security Officer for the Evening shift (40 hours/week). You will perform proactive monitoring, respond to threats, investigate incidents, manage alarms and drills, and mentor staff in safety procedures.

Additional Front Desk duties include greeting visitors, verifying appointments, handling calls, and operating the hospital's security cameras. Requires NY Driver’s License, NY Security Guard credential, and English proficiency; HS diploma or

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 3 years relevant experience.
• Driver’s License credentialed from NY BMV.
• Security Guard credentialed from NY Department of State within 90 days.
• Preferred: BLS Provider, Law Enforcement, Management of Aggressive Behavior credentials.
• Must be able to speak, read, write English.

Responsibilities

• Performes proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigates, documents, and manages security incidents and hazards.
• Maintains knowledge/follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans.
• Facilitates planned drills and simulations.
• Trains and mentors staff on environment of care and emergency management processes and procedures.
• Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Provides for traffic and parking enforcement within campus area and participates in foot and vehicle patrols.
• Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
• Operates vehicle in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.
• Front Reception Desk: greeting visitors, check-in, directions; assist with incoming calls; operate security camera system.
