Job summary

Firelands-Health's Security Officer role at the Main Campus offers full-time night shifts on-site. You will protect patients, staff and guests and respond to emergencies while practicing de-escalation and vigilant observation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior military, law enforcement or security experience preferred.
• Must hold current healthcare security certifications or obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Protects, serves and assists the patients, staff and guests of Firelands-Health.
• Responds to designated emergency codes.
• Uses communication skills to verbally engage with and/or deescalate people in distress including behavioral and psychiatric emergencies.
• Subdues/restrains individuals when needed; operate restraints, sprays, shields or handcuffs as appropriate.
• Monitors individuals for unsafe actions or behaviors with acute hearing and vision.
• Maintains safe environment of medical center buildings and grounds and takes action to resolve problems.
• Handles dangerous incidents (e.g., firearms, narcotics) when needed.
• May be in contact with blood, body fluids and deceased persons with PPE.
• Investigates incidents, accidents or complaints on medical center property.
• Facilitates safe takeoff and landing of medical aircraft.
