Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional customer service and maintain security presence across Mayo Clinic locations in Minnesota. The role involves patrolling property, assisting visitors and staff, enforcing policies, and documenting incidents.

Candidates should be prepared to work nights and weekends, operate radios and emergency systems, and participate in evacuations and emergencies as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related field preferred; minimum two years of experience in a customer service, military, security position and/or similar role; healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with patrolling, incident report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, lock/unlock procedures, door access and CCTV camera operation.
• Experience with Windows XP or newer and intermediate MS Office; security technology familiarity preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors and employees; strong written and verbal skills; strong problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to restrain potentially violent individuals, remain calm and take control during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional customer service and security presence.
• Proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and sensitive areas; assist visitors, patients, and staff; deter incidents.
• Enforce Mayo policies; respond to complaints and service calls; prepare incident reports and logs.
• Operate a two-way radio; coordinate with security and emergency responders; work in security control centers.
• Adapt to stressful situations; manage altercations and emergencies with sound judgement.
• Assist in evacuations for patients, volunteers, visitors and staff; participate in team emergency responses.
