Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP seeks a Healthcare Regulatory Associate in Raleigh to advise provider-side clients on complex regulatory matters. You will work with a nationally recognized team on Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, and other regulatory issues, and support compliance programs and diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Candidate must be active and in good standing with the local state Bar, or be eligible to waive in.
• 3-6 years of substantive healthcare regulatory experience at a law firm.
• Experience advising provider-side healthcare clients, including hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, physician groups, and other healthcare providers.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare fraud and abuse laws, including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute.
• Experience drafting and negotiating physician/provider agreements and advising on provider contracting matters.
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance programs and regulatory investigations.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and advise on state and federal laws impacting healthcare provider organizations, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and HIPAA.
• Provide guidance on hospital and health system operational compliance and assist in developing compliance strategies.
• Conduct regulatory diligence in healthcare mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, joint ventures, and other transactions.
• Research and analyze complex healthcare regulatory issues and prepare memoranda and client alerts.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys across practice groups to support healthcare clients in regulatory and transactional matters.
• Maintain direct client contact and develop practical, business-oriented regulatory solutions.
