Job summary

The Chief Quality Officer at Northwest Medical Center Tucson leads hospital-wide quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and performance initiatives to advance patient care and operational excellence across departments.

The role chairs the performance improvement committees, coordinates JC surveys and accreditation activities, provides education on quality standards, and ensures complete records, timely updates, and effective communication to staff and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in public health, healthcare quality, or related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of direct experience in nursing, quality management, or performance improvement required.
  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, quality management, or related field required.
  • Working knowledge of JC standards, CMS requirements, and DOH regulations required.
  • 5–7 years of clinical nursing experience at an acute care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees development, coordination, and implementation of the hospital’s performance improvement plan.
  • Acts as a quality liaison between hospital departments, medical staff, committees, and administration.
  • Chairs the performance improvement committee and ensures JC compliance and accreditation standards.
  • Primary contact for JC-related activities including surveys and correspondence.
  • Provides education on quality standards and regulatory updates to staff and clinical teams.
  • Develops educational programs to enhance staff knowledge on quality improvement and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains records of performance improvement activities and ensures documentation for reviews.
  • Updates staff on changes to regulatory standards and new quality initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource on quality and performance improvement matters to all departments.
  • Leads the JC Task Force to ensure ongoing compliance and accreditation readiness.
  • Coordinates medical staff performance improvement activities with clinical teams.
  • Disseminates updated information from journals to keep staff informed.
