Job summary

St. Joseph’s Center is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing and procurement across all programs and locations in Scranton, PA.

You’ll build strong vendor partnerships and bring structure and cost discipline to purchasing so the right supplies and tools arrive when needed, enabling teams to serve residents effectively. You’ll oversee requisitions, bids, pricing, and contract awards while ensuring internal controls and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum of three years of purchasing, procurement or materials management experience, preferably in healthcare, long-term care or human services setting.
• Valid PA Driver's License.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Intermediate Excel skills preferred.
• Experience with Accounting, purchasing and/or inventory software.

Responsibilities

• Manage requisitions, purchase orders, and order tracking for supplies, equipment and services across all Center departments and locations.
• Request, evaluate and document bids and quotes, and recommend contract awards to the Director of Accounting and CFO.
• Negotiate pricing and purchasing agreements, maintain the approved vendor list and monitor how vendors perform.
• Develop and maintain purchasing procedures that support sound internal controls, funding source requirements and audit readiness.
• Oversee central supply inventory and supervise the Inventory Coordinator/Purchasing Clerk.
• Analyze spending and usage trends to find savings, reduce waste, prevent stock-outs and support budget planning.
