Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Pre-construction Manager to lead the SBU’s pre-construction activities, including cost modeling, budgeting, and collaboration with marketing and estimators. This role oversees estimating and planning support, drives cost control, and ensures profitable project outcomes.

The candidate should have a BS in Construction Management or related field, at least six years in healthcare construction, and strong communication and analytical skills; CMiC or estimating

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in healthcare construction.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business materials and regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and manuals.
• Ability to present information clearly to managers, clients and the public.
• Proficient PC skills including email, databases, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Experience with CMiC preferred; knowledge of estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal and external teams and customers.
• Ensure integrity through honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
• Monitor project budgeting and buy-out processes for reliable estimates.
• Facilitate cost history sharing to improve pricing and estimating.
• Interface with marketing to consider relevant information and brand recognition.
• Oversee evaluation, planning and execution of new services and profit centers.
• Monitor productivity and cost control on SBU projects.
• Attend project review meetings and resolve budget problems.
• Plan and implement training for estimators and business development staff.
• Identify and procure profitable projects via client relationships, networking and proposals.
• Oversee sales activities including leads, procurement strategies, RFQ/SOQ/RFP responses.
• Establish goals and tools for SBU sales/marketing tasks.
• Commit the company in the project procurement process for SBU projects.
• Supervise Estimating and Business Development and coordinate with executives and clients.
