Job summary

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is seeking a detail-oriented team member to obtain authorizations and managed care referrals for outpatient encounters. This role includes verification of benefits, pre-certification for admissions, and assisting with pre-registration and order entry in a high-volume setting.

The candidate should have 6 months to 1 year of related experience and familiarity with managed care and commercial insurance plans; education requires a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High School or G.E.D is required.
• Six months to one year of recent experience with insurance companies, physician’s office, billing company, or other healthcare setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with managed care insurance and commercial insurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Obtain authorizations and/or managed care referrals for outpatient encounters.
• Verify benefits and pre-certification for elective and emergency admissions.
• Assist Department of Patient Access Services with pre-registration requirements and order entry as needed.
• Handle high patient volumes in a fast-paced environment.
