Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Laundry Machine Operator/Washman to manage daily start-up and operation of the Textile Care Processing Facility at the Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System.

The role involves loading and monitoring commercial laundry equipment, applying wash formulas, maintaining records, and ensuring safety and infection-control procedures.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm with potential shift changes to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

  • Training or experience demonstrating ability to operate and maintain laundry equipment.
  • Evidence of knowledge of safety procedures and PPE; ability to follow work instructions and keep records.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor all TCPF laundry equipment including washers and extractors.
  • Load machines to rated capacity and program wash formulas for each textile type.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, incoming linen weights, and chemical usage.
  • Follow aseptic and infection-control procedures when handling soiled linens.
  • Train other laundry machine operators on washer/extractor operation and wash procedures.
  • Remain cross-trained in TCPF operations and assist on both sides of the laundry as needed.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm; may change based on agency needs.
