Qualifications

• Experience in quantity food preparation in a residential or healthcare facility, with Sanitation Certification.
• Ability to supervise and direct others.
• Prompt and regular attendance.
• No convictions for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, season, and cook meat, fish, vegetables, soups, desserts, and casseroles according to standard recipes.
• Prepare all food in sufficient quantities to cover service requirements.
• Time preparation to meet service schedules.
• Estimate food requirements and utilize leftovers.
• Present food attractively and palatably.
• Handle, store, and refrigerate food properly.
• Standardize recipes and determine portions needed for meals.
• Supervise and instruct kitchen workers regarding food preparation and cleaning.
• Maintain clean work area and equipment; submit requisitions for maintenance as needed.
• Confer with managers and dietitians regarding kitchen functioning.
