Job summary

GlenBrook Health Center in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a part-time Cook I/II (Temporary) to prepare and serve meals per standardized recipes, including soups, stocks, sauces, and daily specials, in a healthcare setting.

You will assist with food prep, inventory, sanitation, and support dining services, working with physician orders when applicable and ensuring quality, safety, and on-time service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, retirement community or healthcare setting.
• Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
• Culinary education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve all food items per standardized recipes to include soups, stock, sauces, and various cooking methods.
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with physician prescribed orders when applicable.
• Assist in restocking, rotation of supplies, inventory management and food safety.
• Adhere to sanitation and infection control standards throughout the shift.
