Job summary

Reedley College, part of the State Center Community College District, seeks a Healthcare Interpreter Instructor/Coordinator for its Health Care Interpreter program. This part-time faculty pool position focuses on teaching, developing materials, coordinating admissions, fieldwork sites, and student support

The role requires cultural and linguistic sensitivity, plus a background in interpretation or health education, and contributes to program growth and community services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience; OR an associate degree and six years; OR a valid California Community College Credential.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students.
• Bilingual/bi-literate and bi-cultural in Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teaching courses in the Health Care Interpreter program.
• Developing and assessing instructional materials and student learning outcomes to improve student learning.
• Coordinating the Health Care Interpreter Certificate Program including admissions, advising, job referrals, graduation/certificate ceremony and student support.
• Establishing and maintaining program fieldwork sites, including contract management.
• Assigning student placements in fieldwork sites, including health clearance and background checks.
• Facilitating communication between college and fieldwork site; and assisting in the institution’s vitality and growth.
