Job summary

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), doing business as SJS Industrial, seeks an Interior Designer to support construction operations within a VA healthcare facility. Salary ranges from $28/hr–$31/hr with 11 holidays, 80 PTO hours, and benefits. Starts October 16, 2026.

The role requires experience in commercial/health interior design, regulatory knowledge (OSHA/EPA), and collaboration with VA staff and design teams. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in interior design or related field; substitution allowed with relevant design experience.
• Experience in commercial design and/or health interior design.
• Ability to interpret architectural/engineering plans and specs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of building code and Joint Commission requirements for healthcare facilities.
• Manage third-party architectural and engineering contracts with VA.
• Assist in preparation of contract documents, review drawings and specs.
• Provide life safety and fire protection reviews of design documents.
• Track findings and recommendations; ensure corrections are made.
• Manage design projects including team meetings, field verification, and coordination of user requirements.
• Coordinate communications among design team, construction team, VA staff, and stakeholders.
• Perform constructability and technical reviews of design documents; gather and consolidate review comments.
• Provide recommendations on construction feasibility, material availability, time requirements and cost factors.
• Coordinate design reviews with the construction team and obtain signoffs at milestones.
• Work with interior design and medical equipment planner to incorporate furniture/equipment into design.
