Job summary

American Health Plans (a division of American Health Partners) seeks a referral intake specialist to manage screening and processing of referral and intake information. You will verify benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure accurate processing for admissions.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and flexibility in hours, with travel as needed. Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to learn HRIS/scheduling systems are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Three (3) years experience in a healthcare related environment preferred.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receives, screens and processes all referral information.
• Performs verification of benefits, payment method and amount.
• Obtains prior authorization to ensure services are reimbursable prior to admission.
• Assign appropriate payer category to be keyed by facility personnel.
• Scan information back to requesting facility.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of all referrals/admissions.
• Back-up for review of potential insurance contracts.
• Adheres to ethical business practices and promotes a safe, respectful environment.
