Job summary

Allegria Village in Dearborn, MI is seeking a dedicated Floor Care / Porter to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of floors and common areas in our Rehabilitation Building, including Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing spaces. This full-time role requires a 2pm–10pm shift and contributes to infection control, safety, and resident comfort.

Responsibilities include deep cleaning, operating floor care equipment, waste handling, responding to requests, and assisting with light maintenance.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in floor care, housekeeping, or environmental services (preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting).
• Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment.
• Dependable and punctual with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with residents and staff.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and scheduled cleaning of floors (sweeping, mopping, buffing, and waxing) in resident rooms, hallways, dining areas, and other common spaces.
• Operate floor care equipment safely and effectively (buffers, auto-scrubbers, etc.).
• Empty trash, replace liners, and assist with removal of bulk waste.
• Respond to housekeeping requests and incidents promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of utility and storage areas.
• Assist with light maintenance or setup tasks as needed (e.g., moving furniture, room setups).
• Follow all infection control, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Communicate any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
