Job summary

Highland Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine maintenance tasks and safety checks within a healthcare environment. The role requires basic repairs, coordination of work orders, and collaboration with clinical staff to support resident comfort and safety.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma and 1+ year of maintenance experience; prior skilled nursing facility exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of general maintenance experience required (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, or related trades).
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily rounds to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs.
• Review maintenance request logs and complete work orders promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to improve resident living spaces and facility environment.
• Assist with furniture moves, equipment repairs, and general maintenance projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues to support resident safety and comfort.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
