Job summary

HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is seeking a Director of Facilities Management to optimize daily operations, oversee maintenance programs, and ensure safety and compliance for a large acute care campus. You will coordinate with executives, oversee staff, and manage contractors to sustain reliable facilities operations.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, energy-efficient building systems, and adherence to regulatory standards, with responsibility for staff development and succession planning

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• CHFM certification must be obtained within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Engages in strategic planning to achieve departmental goals and supports the organization’s mission.
• Leads and develops the facilities management team, delegating responsibilities and mentoring staff.
• Collaborates with diverse stakeholders from technicians to executives.
• Maintains organizational focus with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Applies building science knowledge to ensure energy-efficient operations within budget.
• Oversees HVAC, steam, and electrical systems typical of acute care facilities.
• Manages work orders, preventive maintenance, and CMMS for asset upkeep.
• Sets work standards and ensures compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Directs recruitment, scheduling, and performance reviews of staff and supervisors.
• Identifies training needs and provides coaching for staff development.
• Supports succession planning and development programs for facility management managers.
• Monitors regulatory compliance related to Environment of Care and Life Safety Code.
• Maintains all regulatory documentation using engineering platforms.
• Conducts Life Safety system testing and maintains up-to-date plans.
• Develops and tests Emergency Management plans and drills.
• Mitigates risk with Interim Life Safety Measures and Infection Control Risk Assessments.
• Participates in Environment of Care committee activities.
• Maintains knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned
