Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) in Somerville seeks a Director of Facilities Management to lead the Facilities Department, overseeing maintenance, design, and construction across assigned locations. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
• At least five years in facilities and maintenance operations and/or design and construction in healthcare.
• Minimum of 10 years in a healthcare setting.
• Experience managing diverse workforce under a collective bargaining agreement and managing contract service providers.
• Hold and maintain CHFM credential from ASHE.
• Strong familiarity with OSHA, Joint Commission, NFPA, Life Safety Codes, and MA State Building Code.
• Strong financial and budgeting skills.
• Proven ability to lead in an environment focused on continuous quality improvement.
• Excellent communication and collaborative leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate construction and maintenance with facilities team and outside consultants, ensuring code compliance.
• Oversee budgets, productivity, quality initiatives, energy conservation, and sustainability projects.
• Develop and manage operating budgets and submit annual infrastructure and capital budgets.
• Manage vendors for outsourced facilities services, including contract review and negotiation.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies; lead Environment of Care readiness.
• Develop programs to maintain the physical plant, grounds, and equipment; chair Environment of Care sub-committees.
• Lead cost estimates and schedules for renovations or new projects; seek cost reductions and schedule improvements.
• Participate in CHA committees such as Space Committee and Capital Equipment Review.
