20 Elliot Hospital of the City of Manchester is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the operations of the hospital by maintaining and operating all mechanical equipment, systems and spaces throughout the facility. You will perform routine checks, operate boilers and chillers, and ensure adherence to established procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary school or vocational training preferred.
• Courses in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, sheet metal, automotive repair, ventilation and clinical engineering preferred.
• Experience: 2–4 years in plant operations and/or building maintenance required.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates all mechanical equipment, systems and spaces throughout the facility.
• Makes periodic checks of unmanned machinery spaces to verify operation of designated machinery.
• Starts and operates boilers, chillers, blowers, pumps, compressors, generators, cooling towers and other machinery.
• Observes system operations and ensures compliance with procedures and guidelines.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Responds to system alarms and takes corrective actions as needed.
• Initiates First Response actions during emergencies per policies and plans.
• Maintains boiler room and machine room logs (steam, fuel, water, test results, etc.).
• Monitors after-hour maintenance staff, contractors, or vendors.
