Job summary

Encompass Health in Texas seeks a skilled trades professional to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across building systems and patient-care equipment within an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. This on-site role prioritizes urgent work orders and supports regulatory readiness.

You will collaborate with clinical and operations teams, maintain CMMS records, follow safety and infection-control standards, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on maintenance experience in facilities
• Experience with building systems in healthcare setting is a plus
• Knowledge of NFPA/Joint Commission standards is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in the rehabilitation hospital
• Respond promptly to work orders and urgent facility issues to minimize disruption to patient care
• Support inspection, testing, and documentation of life-safety and regulatory systems (e.g., fire, emergency power)
• Troubleshoot and repair non-clinical equipment and coordinate vendor service when needed
• Collaborate with clinical and operations staff to prioritize tasks and schedule work safely around patient activities
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS or work-order systems
• Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards in a healthcare environment
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response as needed
• Identify improvement opportunities to increase reliability, efficiency, and energy use
• Support new equipment installation, minor renovations, and facility upgrades
