Job summary

NHC HealthCare Chattanooga is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Supervisor in keeping the facility safe and well-maintained for patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves inspecting HVAC systems, electrical safety, and building systems, with opportunities to perform repairs and coordinate with other departments.

The ideal candidate has painting, drywall, electrical and plumbing experience, strong communication, and the physical ability to lift up to 65 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with daily operations to ensure safety and comfort of patients and staff.
• Check HVAC units on roof and in patient rooms, offices and other areas.
• Inspect laundry facilities: washers, dryers and pump station; report issues promptly.
• Perform daily repairs and routine maintenance as needed.
• Inspect electrical outlets, fire safety equipment and alarms; ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Inspect storage and work spaces for cleanliness, safety and supplies.
• Coordinate maintenance work with other departments to avoid disrupting patient care.
• On-call for emergencies and assist with errands and moving equipment as required.
• Maintain and repair hospital property, equipment and grounds as directed.
