Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) seeks an experienced facilities leader to oversee Property Services Work Groups, directing skilled trades and maintenance teams across UTMB’s healthcare and academic facilities on campus.

You will set priorities, manage safety and quality, coordinate projects from small repairs to major renovations, and partner with campus stakeholders to ensure reliable operations and compliant, cost-effective infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent and five years of related experience.
• Healthcare facilities require a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM).
• Non-healthcare facilities require CEFP, CHFM, or CFM (or equivalents).
• If CHFM or CEFP is missing at hire, certification must be obtained within two years.
• Within one year, CHFM practice exam completion or CEFP preparation is required.
• CHFM or CEFP must be obtained by two years after hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to create a productive environment for area maintenance staff.
• Monitor staff performance and complete appraisals.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities of Property Services Work Groups.
• Direct maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
• Ensure safety and high workmanship standards across UTMB facilities.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Customer Service Managers to optimize project scheduling.
• Develop relationships with strategic customers and partners.
• Develop and recommend efficient repair methods and technical procedures.
• Support major capital projects from conception to completion.
