Job summary

UC San Diego is hiring a Custodian for the Hillcrest campus. The role requires performing cleaning duties across patient and non-patient areas, safeguarding assigned spaces, and managing linen delivery and pickup.

The position is a career, full-time role with day shifts (8-hour, Monday–Friday) and is covered by the SX Contract. Minimum qualifications include physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, understanding of hazardous waste handling, safety awareness, and English literacy.

Qualifications

• Perform cleaning/custodial tasks including mopping, pushing and pulling carts, wall washing, vent cleaning, vacuuming.
• Understand handling, storage, and disposal of chemotherapy and infectious/bio-hazardous waste.
• Understand basic safety regulations.
• Read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, the Custodian performs cleaning duties in assigned areas of the facility in both patient and non-patient areas; is responsible for cleaning and safeguarding of assigned areas; is responsible for assigned equipment; is responsible for determining supplies needed; delivers clean linen and picks up soiled linen.
• Maintain efficient usage of supplies.
