Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a safe, sanitary environment in patient rooms and public areas. The role emphasizes infection control, safety, and reliable cleaning routines.

You will handle tasks such as waste removal, floor cleaning, and polishing, with all staff expected to follow PPE guidelines. Shift is Day, 40 hours weekly, with potential overtime based on patient/resident needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and chemicals is helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, sanitary environment in patient/resident areas following infection control guidelines.
• Perform cleaning tasks: empty waste, sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors using appropriate equipment.
• Follow PPE guidelines and keep storage areas and carts clean and organized.
• Assist in laundry areas as needed and utilize approved technology when available.
• Hours may include overtime, nights, weekends and holidays depending on location.
