Job summary

Good Samaritan is hiring an Environmental Services Technician at the Canistota, SD location to maintain a clean and safe patient environment in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include sweeping, scrubbing, waxing floors, waste removal, and assisting with laundry as needed.

Responsibilities require following infection control and safety guidelines, using PPE, and maintaining clean facilities to support quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Apply knowledge of housekeeping processes and techniques to provide a clean, sterile environment for patients/residents and staff.
• Clean locations including patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other areas as needed to meet health standards.
• Wear proper PPE and keep storage areas, equipment and carts clean and orderly.
• Assist in laundry areas as appropriate and may access technology applications as needed.
