Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Cincinnati VA Medical Center seeks an Environmental Service Technician to perform janitorial and custodial services in patient and non-patient areas under supervision.

This open-continuous vacancy may refer applicants to the Hiring Manager on a weekly basis. The second shift runs 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, with duties including floor care, waste handling, restroom cleaning, and general housekeeping to support a safe, clean healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
• Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Responsibilities

• Executes a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas.
• Performs floor maintenance which includes stripping, waxing, and scrubbing of various floor types.
• Cleans doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells.
• Empties trash and wastebaskets, replaces liners, transports general refuse and medical waste to central collection areas.
• Cleans rest rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, ensuring cleaning, disinfection and deodorizing of lavatories and related fixtures.
• Moves and arranges furniture and patient belongings to accomplish cleaning tasks.
• Provides bed-making services in patient care areas and OD rooms; cleans mattresses and bed frames.
