Job summary

Environmental Health & Engineering, Inc. (EH&E) is seeking a Technical Specialist II to support hospital and healthcare facilities in EHS and compliance tasks at client sites in Newton, MA. You will work under supervision to execute daily duties and develop expertise in healthcare compliance programs.

The role involves periodic inspections, regulatory follow-ups, and cooperation with clinical compliance teams to meet JC, CMS and NFPA standards. Weekend on-call availability may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (biology, microbiology, molecular biology, safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, engineering or environmental science).
• 1+ year of experience in EHS or Healthcare Compliance or closely related field required.
• OSHA 24 hour HAZWOPER, DOT/RCRA highly preferred.
• Knowledge of JC, CMS, NFPA (99 and 101) preferred.
• Teamwork, analytical & organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
• Occasional weekend work and on-call emergency duties required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic inspections of clinical and support areas to evaluate compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Follow up on findings as needed.
• Participate in regular compliance activities including gas cylinder and emergency equipment inspections.
• Assist in updating safety materials (Hazard Communication Plan, Respiratory Protection, gas cylinder storage).
• Support regulatory compliance relating to JC, CMS & NFPA requirements.
• Participate in Environment of Care (EC) meetings.
• Respond to occasional chemical, biological, and after-hours emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous chemical, biological, and drug waste disposal policies.
• Perform respiratory protection fit-testing as needed.
• Other duties as required.
