Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking an EH&S Specialist to join the Occupational Safety & Environment of Care Team. This role emphasizes compliance with OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards, including hazard assessments, indoor air quality, and waste management across UMass Chan facilities.

You will work independently and with teams at multiple sites, performing inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and training support, while maintaining records

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health and safety or related field.
• Zero to two years of related safety/environmental health experience.
• Ability to become OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Emergency Responder and wear a full-face respirator; DOT manifest signing certification desirable.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to off-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections, evaluations, and surveillance surveys of labs and patient care areas.
• Assist with risk assessments, incident investigations, and injury investigations.
• Assist with collecting airborne and surface exposure samples using monitoring equipment.
• Assist with maintaining chemical inventories and safety data sheets.
