Job summary

myPlace Health is seeking a Driver for our PACE program at the Downtown Los Angeles site. You will transport participants to appointments, deliver meals, and support center activities, ensuring safety and comfort throughout every trip.

Requirements include 1+ year of driving experience with frail seniors, a valid CA license, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. BLS/CPR/First Aid certifications are to be obtained within 60 days.

Qualifications

• A strong mission orientation to serve high-risk seniors.
• At least 1 year of driving frail elderly participants safely.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid California Class C driver's license with 5+ years driving experience and clean record.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport participants to/from the center and offsite activities.
• Ensure participant safety during all stages of transport.
• Observe and report changes in health with the IDT.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Communicate professionally with participants and team members.
• Assist with center activities during downtime and maintain spaces.

Responsibilities:

• Transportation Services: Safely transport participants to and from the center, offsite activities, specialist appointments, and deliver meals as needed.
• Participant Safety: Ensure participant safety during all stages of transport - from entering, riding in, and exiting the vehicle.
• Observation and Reporting: Collaborate with the Transportation Coordinator and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to observe and report changes in participants' physical and emotional health.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections, maintain equipment quality, and report defects promptly.
• Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with participants, team members, and external contacts to create a welcoming experience.
• Center Support: Assist with center activities during downtime by escorting participants, supporting events, and maintaining clean, organized spaces.
• Contribute to Organizational Growth: Embrace additional opportunities and responsibilities as needed, actively participating in the continued growth and success of the organization.
• BILINGUAL- English/Spanish preferred. (Test will be administered to assess proficiency.)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Passion for Service: A strong mission orientation to serve high-risk seniors and frail older adults with care and respect.
• Driving Experience: At least one (1) year of experience driving frail and elderly participants safely and reliably.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of your daily responsibilities.
• Clean Driving Record: A valid California Class "C" Driver's License with: At least five (5) years of driving experience. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at-fault accident in the past three (3) years.
• Education/Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; one (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Certifications: BLS, CPR and First Aid certification (to be obtained within 60 days of employment).

Preferred Background:

• Experience in non-emergency or public transportation is a plus.
