Job summary

myPlace Health–Compton, CA is seeking a Driver for our PACE program to transport participants to appointments, deliver meals, and support center activities. You will help ensure safety, comfort, and a welcoming experience while building meaningful connections with participants.

Requirements include at least 1 year of driving seniors, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, a valid CA Class C license with a clean record, and BLS/CPR/First Aid certifications (within 60 days).

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of driving frail and elderly participants.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• BLS, CPR and First Aid certifications to be obtained within 60 days of employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; one year of relevant experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport participants to center, offsite activities, appointments, and deliver meals as needed.
• Ensure participant safety during all stages of transport — entering, riding, and exiting the vehicle.
• Observe and report changes in participants’ health to the Transportation Coordinator and IDT.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Communicate clearly with participants, team members, and external contacts to create a welcoming experience.
• Assist with center activities during downtime and maintain organized spaces.
• Contribute to organizational growth by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Transportation Services: Safely transport participants to and from the center, offsite activities, specialist appointments, and deliver meals as needed.

• Participant Safety: Ensure participant safety during all stages of transport – from entering, riding in, and exiting the vehicle.

• Observation and Reporting: Collaborate with the Transportation Coordinator and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to observe and report changes in participants’ physical and emotional health.

• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections, maintain equipment quality, and report defects promptly.

• Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with participants, team members, and external contacts to create a welcoming experience.

• Center Support: Assist with center activities during downtime by escorting participants, supporting events, and maintaining clean, organized spaces.

• Contribute to Organizational Growth: Embrace additional opportunities and responsibilities as needed, actively participating in the continued growth and success of the organization.

• BILINGUAL- English/Spanish preferred. (Test will be administered to assess proficiency.)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Passion for Service: A strong mission orientation to serve high-risk seniors and frail older adults with care and respect.
• Driving Experience: At least one (1) year of experience driving frail and elderly participants safely and reliably.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of your daily responsibilities.
• Clean Driving Record: A valid California Class “C” Driver’s License with: At least five (5) years of driving experience. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at-fault accident in the past three (3) years.
• Education/Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; one (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Certifications: BLS, CPR and First Aid certification (to be obtained within 60 days of employment).
• Preferred Background: Experience in non-emergency or public transportation is a plus
