Qualifications

• Minimum two years of work experience with data measurement; two years in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain reports for physicians and leaders using data from multiple sources.

OVERVIEW

The Data Specialist supports the Quality and Infection Control department through coordination of information and data management needs central to the ongoing functions of the department. The Data Specialist is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of data reporting, including externally and internally reported measures and documents that support system priorities and CMS requirements. Responsible for the visual display of quality data. This position coordinates key system workflows which may include ongoing professional practice evaluation, policy management or internal data transparency and improvement processes.

Schedule: Monday-Friday - 40 hours/week - Onsite Shift: Days

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for coordinating the completion of monthly reports from multiple data registries and databases. This includes entering data from multiple sources, linking data elements, coordinating communication among multiple areas and validating reports.
• Coordinates day-to-day functional processes of the department, such as the policy management process or ongoing professional practice evaluation.
• Ensures the accuracy and integrity of reported data.
• Conduct data quality reviews and perform completeness checks to ensure data is accurate and up to date.
• Escalate any major issues to leaders for resolution.
• Assists with process improvement and workflow changes.
• Creates and maintains reports for physicians, leaders and departments using data from multiple sources.
• Manages uploading and downloading to external databases such as Premier, RL Solutions, Lumedx, Press Ganey and the CDC.
• Ensures data accuracy and validity in the databases.
• Assesses and makes suggestions for workflow improvement in systems used by the Quality and Infection Prevention departments.
• Supports process improvement and efficiency using various applications to their fullest potential.
• Suggests ways to utilize and improve efficiencies in various software applications.
• Participates in planning, project management, implementation and problem resolution in areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for assessment of new measures, software systems, automation and implementation of current and new applications, and end user training as appropriate.
• Supports internal reporting and initiatives as required, such as service line reporting, policy management, Occurrence Reporting Process, Physician peer review, OPPE and other processes by providing data and graphs related to specific needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field with continuing education or related experience in computers, software programs or related field is required. Directly related work experience will be considered in lieu of degree (Ten year’s prior experience with quality data management, spreadsheet design or databases). Minimum two years work experience with data measurement is required. Two years’ experience working in a healthcare setting is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
• Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
• Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Advanced understanding of multiple applications and relational databases, such as SQL or Microsoft Access required.
• Detailed knowledge of workflow processes required.
• Self-directed and able to work independently.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and data management tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain data accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

PAY RANGE

PAY RANGE: $23.18 - $35.94
